Burden can be entered on individual employees to provide a more realistic representation of their payroll cost to the company.
If an employee has an hourly rate on the record then ServMan automatically adds the burden to the employee cost on the order detail and time detail records.
NOTE: Changing the employee's labor or burden rate on the employee record will not change the order profitability or job cost reports for time already entered. It works the same as a pay raise - it is effective at the time it is entered - and is not retroactive.
In addition to individual employee burdens, a burden percentage by Cost Code can be entered on the department setup screen.
Once the departmental burden percentages are entered, you ca run selected job cost reports with the Apply Burden box checked or unchecked. This report checkbox refers ONLY to the departmental burden.
NOTE:
Individual employee burden (if present) is always included on the job cost reports.
If you change a department's burden percentage and rerun the report, the job cost reports will calculate the departmental burden at the NEW percentage rate.
On the job cost reports, individual employee burden and departmental burden are cumulative.
